American actor best remembered for roles in films such as The Little Princess, the Thin Man, Lucky Cisco Kid, Ocean's 11, The Devil is a Woman, Now You See Him, Now You Don't. On TV he had a memorable role as The Joker in the 1960's TV series Batman. During his career he was described as both 6ft 2 and 3.
